Newborn & Maternity

Your Newborn session is probably the most important photo session you will ever have, they change so very quickly and with in just a few short weeks, they have lost that newborn look, it is crazy how fast they change and grow.  I did courses with two of the top Newborn photographers in the country, and over the years have continued my education taking workshops with some of the worlds top newborn photographers, to ensure I I get every aspect right, from lighting to posing and most importantly handling and supporting your new precious bundle. 

The safety and comfort of your baby is my top most priority, which is why we set up a specialist Newborn studio, in the heart of Cheshire, using only industry specific props and fabrics, many imported from the USA and Australia and I am of course fully insured and DBS checked.

 Having a newborn turns your world upside down, you have been waiting what fee​ls like​ an eternity for them to arrive, and everything is prepared only to find that for the first couple of weeks there is no routine, you are exhausted and don't even know what day of the week it is, and the last thing on your mind is capturing that fleeting newborn look, but before you know it, it has gone. A new born shoot will not help with lack of sleep, but it will give you a couple of hours relaxing in a lovely atmosphere, watching your new precious bundle captured in beautiful images that you will cherish forever.   

WHAT TO EXPECT  Come in, sit down and breath!! these first few days/weeks have been an exhausting whirlwind of emotions swinging between absolute love, excitement and pride, to fear that you do not have a clue what you are doing, when you will ever sleep again or even shower!! We have a comfy couch, refreshments, free wifi and even a tv to keep siblings happy, so you can sit back and relax while you watch your new bundle of joy making their modelling debut.  I like to take some time when you arrive to let you all settle,  we have a chat and give baby a feed before we start.  It’s important to tell me if there were any complications with the birth as this can affect Mum and baby. Comfort and safety is key throughout the shoot, so if Mum is still sore or struggling to stand for long periods I always take this into account. Tell me about the birth. How are you feeling? What about Daddy…..How are you holding up?  

 I am very much baby led and like to  make sure that we stop frequently when baby needs feeding or just some cuddles, so expect your session to last about 2-3 hours  This is due to time to settle baby and  plenty of time for feeds where needed. Newborn sessions are a lot more of feeding, snuggling and soothing than they are photographing, so just expect lots of down time. You don't get off totally scot free though, as I will occasionally ask  you to be next to your little one once they are posed in a prop,  just to be extra safe while I step back to take the image. I never book anything else on the same day as a newborn session, so there is never any pressure if your little one is cluster feeding and we are going over time

 
Comfort is equally as important as safety, so during the newborn photo shoot the studio is kept at around 24 degrees, this is for the comfort of baby' as they will be in a lot less clothing then normal, and can not regulate their own body temperature, so it is important that we keep the room at the correct temperature for your little one.  It will feel pretty warm for you, so please dress accordingly, there is a private area where you can change if you think you may be too warm in the outfit you are want to be photographed in, and don't worry if the warmth and relaxing makes you take a nap.....you will not be the first!

Your favourite 5 beautifully hand edited digital images, available for you to download from a password protected gallery.

You will get a an 1 and a half hour shoot, with full use of  my maternity gowns 

A gallery of approx 10-15 images for you to choose your favourites 

All types of shots are included, partner, children.

Additional images can be purchased at £20 each.

 WHEN TO BOOK  Spaces are limited as I only do 1 newborn session a day and I book up pretty quickly, most ladies will book after their 20 week scan, and a £50 deposit secures your session  

As babies very rarely arrive when they are expected, I pencil you in on your due date and then work round you. Once your little one has arrived, you just contact me as soon as possible and we set the actual day and time for your session. This is when I send you the Newborn 'what to expect' sheet, which just gives you a little information about what happens in the session, tips on what to bring with you and how to find the studio.

When you are ready to book, you simply fill out the booking form, at the bottom of this page, which will ask you for all kinds of details, like your favourite colour palettes, types of images and props you like, details of siblings that are to be included, so that when you arrive everything is set up for you to help things flow as smoothly as possible and ensure I capture exactly the kind of images you want.
